My friend, Emma, is one of those fortunate people who is blessed with flippen awesome hair. Sometimes I just want to crawl in her locks and camp there (if it was possible and not creepy, I would). I took some photos of her a while ago and made this in honour of her hair.

Well done Emma for maintaining the hair of destiny!

Free Creative

I recently attended the Free Creative fashion show at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. The Free Creative is the cream of Nelson Mandela University’s first, second and third year fashion designers. It inspires young fashion design students to express and formulate their individual style and translate a future aesthetic. This year the students used a completely new approach, developing sculptural three dimensional fabric manipulation. I was part of the photography team who photographed the event.

bar tender san antonio, TX 1-person household goes to sleep at 8am and wakes up at 4pm daily. 2008

Mark Menjivar says: ''A refrigerator is both a private and a shared space. One person likened the question, "May I photograph the interior of your fridge?" to asking someone to pose nude for the camera. Each fridge is photographed "as is." Nothing added, nothing taken away.

These are portraits of the rich and the poor. Vegetarians, Republicans, members of the NRA, those left out, the under appreciated, former soldiers in Hitler’s SS, dreamers, and so much more. We never know the full story of one's life.''

Simply Breakfast

Breakfast has always been one of my favourite meals, only if eaten at 10am though. Today, I got some breakfast inspiration.

I came across this lovely blog of Brooklyn photographer Jennifer Causey called simply breakfast. The idea-like the title of the blog-is so simple , she photographs her breakfast every morning. I love.

Kimbo clothing

I recently did a shoot for local fashion designer Kim Kearny who has a boutique in East London called Kimbo Clothing. The range I photographed is designed for Spring/Summer 2009. Her dresses are face meltingly amazing. flip. Here are just a few of the images. We specifically decided not to use super skinny/freakishly tall/plastic models because her range is made for real women with beautiful curves. Don't you just love her already.
Thank you to Stephanie, Clanelle and Melanie for being amazing models and Sasha Hatherly for being an awesome assistant/fellow photographer/backdrop designer whatumacalit. I love you all.

Bloody trousers and a chipped tooth

My favourite thing to do in the whole universe is to take photos and make photos, oh... and eat, but that is a blog on its own, so I'll just stick to the photography.
I am currently completing my Btech at NMMU (4 years.flip.woah) which has proved to be more of a holiday than anything else considering all the traveling and ''research'' I've been doing this year. Although I must say, creatively, it has been an extremely fullfilling year. Focusing on exactly what I want to do and having the freedom to experiment. It took me 6 months to narrow my practical project down but I think I have finally got it. After a constant struggle with my own flippen stubborn self. I landed on the death of nature. Being a girl who likes tea and cake and shiny things, I have always been inclined to make things beautiful and dramatic, but when you think of the death of nature, you definitely don't think of the word pretty. no no no! No matter how hard I tried to make it beautiful, the further it pulled me away from beauty until I found myself in a dodgy slaughterhouse ordering a pig's head from a man with bloody trousers, dirty fingernails and a chipped tooth! Now... I like it. (hehehe)

So people faces stay ''tuned'' and join me on my journey looking at dirty hair, skinned backs, broken fingers, slightly twisted necks and roast teeth. Because we are edible too!
I'm not a hippy or a goth, okay.
